Infrared light is not visible to the naked eye because infrared wavelengths are too high on the electromagnetic spectrum. The wave lengths are longer than those of visible light and shorter than those of radio waves. This part of the electromagnetic spectrum is what we perceive as heat or “heat radiation”. Infrared is mostly associated with “hot spots”, but did you know that ANYTHING above absolute zero emits infrared heat?

The term "Thermography" refers to the capturing of thermal patterns and data emitted by an object with the use of an infrared imaging and measurement camera. An image is then produced with the camera that can give you data that is otherwise unattainable.

Infrared Thermography is the world’s leading predictive instrument tool. Why? Because an infrared camera produces an image of the heat radiation that it views and the picture that is produced is a story to what is happening in relation to the thermal patterns. Heat is a factor of waste especially in an electrical system. When excessive heat is detected by the camera an image can be produced that becomes in itself a powerful tool. With this data repairs and/or preventive maintenance can be scheduled. Costs can be controlled by ordering parts a head of time, scheduling the work when the operation can afford to be shut down and by minimizing the possibility of dangerous conditions such as fire and/or other loss. Infrared has many applications such as electrical grids, mechanical systems, building envelopes, commercial rooftops, R&D operations, medical industry and many, many others.
